Taybeh, Emad Diab / Nabd Al-Hayat – Israeli settlers raided the land and home of a Palestinian Christian family in the town of Taybeh, northeast of Ramallah in the central West Bank, on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at around 12:20 p.m., and threatened activists and solidarity groups during a field visit to inspect the house and property, which had been subjected to repeated attacks.
A group of activists and solidarity visitors travelled to the western area of the town to visit the quarry and concrete factory, as well as inspect the Christian family’s home located near both sites, following repeated attacks by settlers. During the visit, the group discovered that the fence surrounding the family’s land had been cut and found two Israeli settler shepherds grazing a flock inside the family’s privately owned land.
According to the activists and video footage documenting the incident, the two shepherds called another settler who arrived at the scene on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV). The settler threatened the solidarity visitors while claiming ownership of the land, in what the activists described as an attempt to establish a new presence on the Palestinian family’s property.
The family that owns the house and land said it has been living under continuous fear and intimidation as a result of these attacks, and that its members are no longer able to access their home or land normally without the presence of activists and solidarity groups.
The family added that the attacks caused material damage, including the cutting of the fence and tampering with property, in addition to psychological and emotional harm caused by repeated threats and fears of further escalation targeting the home or land.
The solidarity visitors confirmed that they informed the Israeli police and the Israeli army stationed in the area about what had happened. They said that the settlers remained inside the land despite the report being filed, without immediate measures being taken to prevent the incident from continuing. They also said that the response of Israeli forces to such attacks does not provide sufficient protection for Palestinians, while landowners face increasing difficulties in accessing their properties.
The incident comes amid a series of attacks reported in Taybeh over recent years, including the burning of lands and property, the establishment of settler outposts, including pastoral outposts, the seizure of areas of land, and restrictions on farmers’ access to their agricultural lands, particularly olive groves and farms. The incidents have also included provocative settler patrols through the town’s streets and attacks on residents’ vehicles.
Residents of Taybeh say that the continuation of these attacks is increasing pressure on the local community and deepening concerns about the future of their presence in the town, which is considered the last Palestinian town in the West Bank with a Christian majority.
